SUMMARY:JFT Book Club (Hybrid) – With Silent Reading Time – Food in Japan
DESCRIPTION:Taste Food in Japan Through Literature\, Manga\, and Nonfiction! \nIn Japan\, autumn is considered “the season for appetite” (食欲の秋) and “the season for reading” (読書の秋) as it is a time of rich harvest and the cooler comfortable weather makes it an ideal climate for getting lost in a book. This September\, let’s celebrate both with an evening of books\, food\, and cultural exchange with the JFT Library! \nWhether you’re a foodie\, a fan of Japanese fiction and manga\, or just curious about Japanese food culture\, join us in person or virtually from anywhere in the world. Pick a book from the library’s book list (or bring your own book)\, take a break from daily distractions\, and indulge in the simple pleasure of reading in silence. Afterward\, engage in an optional discussion to share your thoughts and discoveries with fellow participants—or just listen in! We welcome all levels of engagement to join this enriching literary and cultural experience! \nNo prior knowledge/preparation is required! \nRegister Here   \n*Registration is FULL. If you wish to be notified in case a cancelled slot becomes available\, please register for the waitlist on Eventbrite* \n First-time participants are always welcome! Engage in conversations at your comfort level and learn new perspectives from other book lovers from different cultural backgrounds that you wouldn’t gain from reading alone! It’s a safe space where your thoughts and impressions are valued\, regardless of whether you choose to actively participate or quietly absorb the conversations around you. \nWe welcome both seasoned book club members and first-time participants to discover the joy of silent reading without the pressures of finishing an assigned book on time and/or participating in mandatory discussions. \n \n\nShow HOW DOES THE UPCOMING JFT BOOK CLUB WORK? \nHOW DOES THE UPCOMING JFT BOOK CLUB WORK?\n\nOnce you register for the event\, find a book to read based on the criteria listed in WHAT BOOK TO BRING?
