Thank you for your interest. \n \nProfile of His Excellency Ambassador Kenjiro Monji\n(French and Japanese follows) \nH.E. Mr. Kenjiro Monji was born in Kitakyushu\, Fukuoka in 1952. After graduating from the Faculty of Law at Tokyo University\, he entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1975. \nIn his career\, he has served mainly in the areas of treaties\, national security and cultural exchange. He has worked overseas in France\, Australia\, Belgium\, the United Kingdom and in the mission of Japan to the European Union. \nAfter holding posts in Tokyo as Deputy Director-General of the Treaties Bureau and as Director-General for International Affairs at the Ministry of Defence\, he served as Ambassador to Iraq (2007)\, Director-General for Public Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2008)\, Ambassador to Qatar (2010) and Ambassador\, Permanent Delegate of Japan to UNESCO (2013). \nHe started his assignment as Ambassador of Japan to Canada and to the Delegation of Japan to the International Civil Aviation Organization in April 2015. Having been awarded the title of Sake Samurai by the Japan Sake Brewers Association Junior Council\, Ambassador Monji also promotes Japanese sake overseas. \n  \n***French*** \nSon Excellence M. Kenjiro Monji est né à Kitakyushu dans la préfecture de Fukuoka en 1952. Diplômé de la Faculté de Droit de l’Université de Tokyo\, c’est en 1975 qu’il a fait ses débuts au Ministère des Affaires étrangères. \nAu cours de sa carrière diplomatique\, il a surtout travaillé dans les domaines des traités\, de la sécurité nationale et des échanges culturels. A l’étranger\, il a exercé ses fonctions en France\, en Australie\, en Belgique\, au Royaume-Uni et à la Mission du Japon auprès de l’Union européenne. \nAprès avoir occupé les postes de Directeur général adjoint du Bureau des traités au Ministère des Affaires étrangères et de Directeur général pour les Affaires internationales au Ministère de la Défense à Tokyo\, il fut Ambassadeur en Iraq (2007)\, Directeur général pour la diplomatie publique au Ministère des Affaires étrangères (2008)\, Ambassadeur au Qatar (2010) et Délégué permanent du Japon auprès de l’UNESCO (2013). \nEn avril 2015 il a entamé sa mission en tant qu’Ambassadeur du Japon au Canada et à la Délégation japonaise de l’Organisation de l’aviation civile internationale. Ayant reçu le titre de Samouraï du saké du Conseil junior de l’Association des brasseurs de saké du Japon\, l’Ambassadeur Monji fait également la promotion du saké à travers le monde. \n  \n***Japanese*** \n1952年北九州市生まれ。1975年東京大学法学部卒業、同年外務省入省。主に、条約、安全保障、文化交流を担当。在外は、フランス、豪州、ベルギー、英国の大使館、欧州連合日本政府代表部に勤務。その後、外務省条約局審議官、防衛省防衛参事官を経て、2007年駐イラク大使、2008年外務省広報文化交流部長、2010 年駐カタール大使、2013年ユネスコ政府代表部大使を歴任。2015年4月より駐カナダ大使兼国際民間航空機関政府代表。日本酒造青年協議会「酒サムライ」として日本酒普及活動も展開中。 \n  \nREGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED.
