SUMMARY:PRIDE Films > Kakera: A Piece of our life
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nKakera: A Piece of our life カケラ\n\nJuly 20\, 2018 6:30 PM\n\nDirected by Momoko Ando [2009] 107 min.\n\n\n\n\nCelebrate Pride with us this summer by watching four films in the PRIDE FILM SERIES that look at LGBTQ diversity in Japan. \nA film adaptation of the comic “Love Vibes” by popular manga artist\, Erika Sakurazawa\, Kakera stars Hikari Mitsushima\, from the multi-award winning film Love Exposure (Ai no mukidashi)\, in the lead. The film was released at the same time in Tokyo and the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London\, making a simultaneous premiere in Japan and England. Music is by James Iha. \nCollege student Haru (Hikari Mitsushima) is stuck in an unfulfilling relationship with a boyfriend that’s just not right for her. One day\, Rico (Eriko Nakamura)\, a “medical artist” who makes prosthetic body parts\, strikes up a conversation with her. Rico believes that gender has nothing to do with love. The two quickly become intimately involved… \nThis is the first film directed by Momoko Ando\, who is the daughter of actor-turned-director Eiji Okuda and actress Kaz Ando. Her younger sister\, Sakura Ando also collaborated on her next film\, the critically acclaimed “0.5 mm” (2010)\, which we screened at JFT in the Japanese Women Directors film series during International Women’s Month in March 2018. \n\n\nPremiere\nWorld Premiere: Raindance Film Festival 2009 \nFilm Festivals\, Awards\nKinotayo-FESTIVAL DU FILM JAPONAIS CONTEMPORAIN 2009 Prix Nikon de la Belle image\nStockholm International Film Festival Official Entry 2009\nShinsedai Cinema Festival 2010\nJapanese Film Festival Nippon Connection 2010\nGlasgow Film Festival 2010 \n\n\n\n\n\nPride Film Series: \n\n\n\nTABOO Directed by Nagisa Oshima\n\n\n\nHUSH! Directed by Ryosuke Hashiguchi\n\n\n\nLILY FESTIVAL Directed by Sachi Hamano\n\n\n\nKAKERA Directed by Momoko Ando
