SUMMARY:Marugoto Teaching Material Project: 1. Project outline explanation\, project member decision
\nまるごと中級1（B1）概要説明：https://www.marugoto.org/about/ \n想定される対象学習者：成人、大学生など \n資料集サンプル： \n\n中級１　トピック１：https://tr.jpf.go.jp/wp-content/uploads/資料集サンプル　中級1　トピックpdf\n\nプロジェクト参加条件：１．２．の両日にご参加可能なカナダ在住の日本語教師の方々 \nJFTスタッフ：呉屋　由郁子、齋藤　典子 \nお問い合わせ先：齋藤　典子　nsaito@jftor.org \n\nMarugoto Teaching Material Project\nIn order to make it easier to use Marugoto textbooks in Canadian Japanese-language education\, we are planning a project to create a collection of materials to be used as a reference by teachers. Our aim is that this “Reference Collection” will be useful in both synchronous and asynchronous online classes through bringing together useful digital resources\, videos\, etc. that can be used with the Marugoto textbooks. \nThis current project will target materials to use with Marugoto Intermediate B1\, specifically. Topics/sections of the textbook will be divided amongst the project members\, and each group or person will create a “Resource Collection” for the section they are tasked with. Examples of materials are convenient websites used by the project members or self-made teaching materials. Something made specifically for this project is also welcome! We hope that this can be an opportunity for teachers to bring together useful resources they can use in their own classrooms. The final collection will also be shared on our website so it can be used by everyone in the future. \nOn August 8 we will have a session to explain the outline of the project before we ask individuals to confirm their participation\, so please feel free to join us if you are interested. \nWe look forward to meeting teachers interested in joining our Maruguto Teaching Material Project! \nDate and Time: \n1. SUMMARY:Continuing Learning Japanese 33: Japanese Language Courses at Huron University College
\n担当：\n国際交流基金トロント日本文化センター　　齋藤典子\nE-mail: nsaito@jftor.org     Web site: www.jftor.org\nCAJLE　小室リー郁子\nE-mail: ikuko.komuro.lee@utoronto.ca           Web site: www.cajle.info \n  \nInformation Exchange Meeting for Japanese Language Teachers:\nContinuing Learning Japanese 33\nCanadian Association for Japanese Language Education (CAJLE)\nThe Japan Foundation\, Toronto \nJapanese is taught at several secondary schools in Toronto and its surrounding areas. Yet\, it appears that teachers do not know much about the other institutions\, courses or programmes. This lack of understanding can sometimes be found even within the same institution. We believe that it is very important and necessary for teachers to know what their current students have previously studied and in what type of environment that education took place. Similarly\, it is important to be informed of the available learning opportunities for students who wish to continue studying Japanese.  We believe it is essential for teachers to build a strong and active network that enables them to communicate with one another. Since December 2009\, the Canadian Association for Japanese Language Education (CAJLE) and the Japan Foundation\, Toronto have been co-organizing events to build a good foundation for the articulation of Japanese language education. \nFor the 33rd event of the series\, we will introduce Japanese language courses at Huron University College. Please register using the form below. \nDate and Time: Wednesday\, August 5th\, 2020  7:00 pm to 8:15 pm (EDT)\n　　　Click here to confirm the time in the region you live in.\n　　　Zoom meeting accessible from 6:30 pm\n　　　＊The Zoom Meeting ID will be sent to participants 2 hours before the event starts\, so please make sure to register before then. \nPresenters: Dr. Michiya Kawai\, Dr. Sawako Akai\, Ms. Rie Shirakawa\, Ms. Mitsume Fukui\, Huron University College \nSchedule: \n1. \nFor the 32nd event of the series\, we will introduce Japanese language courses at York Region District School Board. SUMMARY:Teacher Workshop: Why Virtual Reality (VR) Games Help You Learn Languages
224 \n\nThe Japan Foundation\, Toronto (JFT)\nWorkshop for Japanese Language Teachers\nThe Japan Foundation\, Toronto (JFT) will hold a workshop which aims to provide a place for teachers to learn together about teaching the Japanese language. Those working in the field of Japanese language education as well as those with an interest in Japanese language education are welcome to attend. For registration\, please see below. \nTheme: Why Virtual Reality (VR) Games Help You Learn Languages\nHave you heard of TPR (Total Physical Response)? It’s a language teaching method that focuses on taking physical action following a teacher’s instruction. Second language acquisition theory places importance on learners understanding a large amount of “comprehensible input”\, as it has been found that emphasis on output such as writing and speaking is less necessary. TPR is a teaching method that was built based on this theory of having “more input and less output”. Modern VR games are a great environment for learning languages with TPR as there are many games which learners will not be able to play unless they see and listen to various instructions and act accordingly – which is exactly what TPR is about. In addition\, as VR is so immersive\, talking to others on social media in VR has the potential to be very different from previous online communication methods such as Skype. In this workshop\, one of the participants will have a chance to actually wear VR goggles and explore the possibility of learning a second language through VR games firsthand. \nDate and Time: Saturday\, December 14th\, 2019 \nWorkshop: 2:30 pm – 5:30 pm (Doors open at 2:00 pm)\nMixer: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm (A light meal will be served) \nLocation: The Japan Foundation\, Toronto　　Seminar Room\n2 Bloor Street East\, Suite 300\, Toronto\, Ontario \nRegistration Fee: Free\nRegistration Deadline: Sunday\, December 8th\, 2019 (Please heed the deadline) \nInstructor: Yoshifumi Murakami\, Japanese-Language Education Advisor\, Alberta Education (sponsored by the Japan Foundation)\nInstructor’s Introduction: Yoshifumi Murakami has been working as the Japan Foundation Japanese Language Specialist dispatched to Alberta Education since May 2017. He graduated from International Christian University\, and has written books such as “Japanese for Business for the Information Technology Industry” (ALC Press Inc. 2008)\, “Bokenka method (Adventurers’ Method)” (Coco Publishing\, 2018)\, “Prepare to be transported: Introduction to VR for language teachers (Japanese Edition)” (Kindle\, 2019). He has also contributed to the online magazine “Nihongo Kyoiku Idobata (Content-free chat on Japanese language education)” with his “Social Media o meguru boken (Adventures in Social Media)” series\, and continues to update his blog targeting Japanese-language teachers\, “Mura-log.” \nFor inquiries about this workshop: Noriko Saito　nsaito@jftor.org or 416-966-1600 ext. 224
