Our aim is that this “Reference Collection” will be useful in both synchronous and asynchronous online classes through bringing together useful digital resources\, videos\, etc. that can be used with the Marugoto textbooks. \nThis current project will target materials to use with Marugoto Pre-Intermediate (A2/B1). Topics/sections of the textbook will be divided amongst the project members\, and each group or person will create a “Resource Collection” for the section they are tasked with. Examples of materials are convenient websites used by the project members or self-made teaching materials. Something made specifically for this project is also welcome! We hope that this can be an opportunity for teachers to bring together useful resources they can use in their own classrooms. The final collection will also be shared on our website so it can be used by everyone. \nOn June 25 we will have a session to explain the outline of the project before we ask individuals to confirm their participation\, so please feel free to join us if you are interested. \nWe look forward to meeting teachers interested in joining our Maruguto Teaching Material Project! \nDate and Time: \n\nProject outline explanation\, project member decision\nDate: Saturday\, June 25th\, 2022         1:00pm – 2:30pm (Eastern time)\nPlease check here for the time in your area.\n*Participation as a project member is not mandatory\, so feel free to join us if you are interested.\nDocument collection presentation\nDate: Saturday\, August 6th\, 2022        1:00pm – 3:00pm (Eastern time)\n*End time is subject to change.\n\nAbout Marugoto: https://www.marugoto.org/about/ \nTarget learners: adults\, university students\, etc. \nCollected Resource Sample: \n\nIntermediate 1 Topic 1: https://bit.ly/3PrDzlt\nMarugoto Teaching Material Project Collection of Materials:\n\nhttps://tr.jpf.go.jp/language/resources/teacher/marugoto-materials-collection/ \nEligibility: For both 1. and 2. participation is restricted to Japanese-language teachers residing in Canada. \nJFT staff: Yuiko Goya\, Noriko Saito \nContact: Noriko Saito nsaito@jftor.org

SUMMARY:Online Nihongo Salon for Japanese-Language Teachers (17)
DESCRIPTION:THE JAPAN FOUNDATION\, TORONTO\nONLINE NIHONGO SALON\nThe Japan Foundation\, Toronto is hosting a Nihongo Salon with the aim of providing a place where advanced Japanese learners (including Japanese language teachers) in Canada who would like to maintain Japanese language proficiency can speak Japanese regularly. We hope that these gatherings can be an opportunity for participants to regularly speak Japanese and to network with each other. \nThe 17th Online Nihongo Salon          \nTopic: Let’s try “Word Wolf” \n“Word Wolf” is a “werewolf”-type game from Japan. A word is given to each player by an online system. The same word is given for each player except one\, and a similar word is given for that one player (e.g.\, “taxi”\, “taxi”\, “taxi”\, “bus”\, etc.). Each player checks their word without revealing it to the other players. The player that has the different word is the Word Wolf (but is not sure whether they are the Word Wolf). Each player gives a short comment about their word. No lying! If someone guesses who the Word Wolf is\, they win. SUMMARY:Online Workshop for Teachers 8: Let's Create Can-do's and Apply Them to Lessons
\n1回目：事前アンケート結果共有、教科書のCan-doを作成・分析（グループワーク）\n2回目：グループ発表ととディスカッション、振り返り \n講師：吉川　景子（国際交流基金派遣日本語上級専門家、アルバータ州教育省日本語教育アドバイザー） \nお問い合わせ先：齋藤典子　nsaito@jftor.org \n\nJFT Online Workshop for Japanese Language Teachers 8\nLet’s Create Can-do’s and Apply Them to Lessons\nWhile it is felt that there is a growing interest in the “Action-Centered Approach” and teaching materials such as “Marugoto” and “Irodori”\, there are many schools in Canada that use “GENKI”\, which relies on a sentence building system. \nIn this training\, participants will take up a lesson from a textbook that focuses on sentence patterns\, create Can-do’s based on the topic and tasks accomplished that can be considered in a real-life situation\, and work with group members to think about the lesson based on the Can-do’s. Through this activity\, participants will deepen their understanding of the use of Can-do’s and think about how they can design their own classes based on task accomplishments. \nIf you are interested\, please register using the form below. \nDate and Time: Tuesdays\, February 8th and 22nd\, 2022 \n6:00 pm – 7:30 pm (MST)                          8:00 pm – 9:30 pm (EST)               \nApplication Deadline: Thursday\, February 3\, 2022 \nTarget participants: Japanese teachers living in Canada (maximum 20 participants) who meet the following requirements: \n* able to attend both zoom sessions (because the same pair or group will continue to work together)\n* able to complete pre- and post-tasks (need to work in pairs or with the group before or after the zoom sessions)\n* able to participate with a camera on (just observing\, or listening only with the camera off is not permitted)\n* able to participate using a desktop/laptop (smartphones/tablets are not permitted) \nLanguage: Japanese \nWorkshop Agenda: Please note that the contents are subject to change \n1st session: Sharing the results of the registration questionnaire\, group work of making and analysing Can-do’s\n2nd session: Sharing Can-do’s and the lesson plans\, discussion\, overall review \nInstructor: Keiko Yoshikawa\, Japanese-Language Education Advisor\, Alberta Education (sponsored by the Japan Foundation) \nFor inquiries: Noriko Saito  nsaito@jftor.org
