Dai Miyamoto’s life is turned upside down the day he discovers jazz. A former high school basketball player, Dai picks up a saxophone and begins practicing day and night, determined to become one of the greatest of all time. He leaves his hometown Sendai for the bustling nightclubs of Tokyo, but soon finds the life of a professional musician is not for the faint of heart. His passion eventually wins over the cocky but talented pianist Yukinori, and after Dai convinces his friend Shunji to learn the drums, they launch a new jazz trio whose rough sound contains a raw energy that quickly wins attention from local audiences. But what does it take to truly be great?
Director Biography:
Born in 1981, TACHIKAWA Yuzuru was originally from MADHOUSE, an animation studio that has put out numerous hits. His career as a director started early while he was there. For “Death Parade”, not only did he write the original work and the screenplay but he also directed the series. In 2008, he was selected as the director of the movie series “Detective Conan”. “Detective Conan: Zero the Enforcer” earned 9.18 billion yen, which was the highest box office revenue of all time while “Detective Conan: Black Iron Submarine” is now being shown in theaters in Japan. In 2020, he also directed the completely original TV anime “Deca-Dance”. Tachikawa is currently working on the “Mob Psycho 100” series that is now being aired in Japan.
