Special Online Japanese Course: Advanced (B2)

Registration for our September 2024 Japanese language courses now open!


Our Advanced course is designed for students who have completed our Intermediate 2 course and will develop students’ language skills (receptive, productive and interactive) at the B2 level of the JF Standard. During this course students will work towards the following goals:

  • Can understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in his/her field of specialisation.
  • Can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party.
  • Can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Course Details and Schedule

This course runs on a shorter schedule than our other Online Japanese Courses. Each term consists of 5 classes and covers one topic chosen by the instructor.
Our Advanced course runs Monday evenings, with the specific schedule as follows:

Maximum 16 students

Advanced Course Fees

Each term (Fall, Winter, Spring) costs $150. Payment is accepted only on a Term by Term basis.

Textbook

No textbook is prescribed for the Advanced course; instead, students will explore topics related to contemporary Japanese society and culture using authentic materials ranging from dialogues to literary texts. Materials will be provided by the instructor.

The topic covered in each term will be selected to fit the specific needs/interests of the students.
