Celebrate the 40th anniversary of Studio Ghibli with the first feature film officially released by the trailblazing animation studio. Founded in 1985 by Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahata and Toshia Suzuki, Studio Ghibli has captivated imaginations with their beloved films, from Spirited Away and The Boy and the Heron. Their first film has all the defining features of their future hits: rich hand-drawn animation, captivating storytelling, and a beautiful score. Castle in the Sky follows Pazu, a young boy from a small mining town, who meets a young girl, Sheeta, when she falls from the sky. The two find themselves on the run from a gang of pirates and government agents, both after Sheeta’s magic crystal necklace, which may be the key to finding the legendary floating city of Laputa.
The English dubbed version of the film will be presented.
This film is suggested for children 8+ due to some cartoon violence and peril.
