Discovering Japanese-Canadian Nikkei Identity & Culture – Virtual Conference
日系カナダ人のアイデンティティーと文化を探る
Japanese immigration to Canada dates back to 1877 when Manzo Nagano, a sailor from Nagasaki first set foot in British Columbia. For over a century, people of Japanese ancestry have made Canada home and have contributed to the cultural landscape of Canada. Learn about the history and heritage of Japanese-Canadian Nikkei through a unique 3-part virtual conference ‘Discovering Japanese-Canadian Nikkei Identity & Culture: Past & Present’ hosted by The University of Tokyo, U Tokyo Alumni Association of Canada and Athabasca University in Alberta. The project is proudly supported by the Japan Foundation and the Calgary Japanese Community Association. Admission is free.
