Our annual Book Tree is back after 4-year hiatus!
Let’s make the library’s book tree bloom together by sharing your thoughts on Japan-related library items and win an exciting prize!

Book Tree eligibility:
Check out 5+ physical/digital library items from Japan Foundation Toronto Library and/or JF Canada/USA Digital Library AND submit your comment(s) within the period of Saturday, January 20 – Sunday, March 31 2024.
*The last day to borrow physical item(s) from Japan Foundation Toronto Library is Saturday, March 30. Please check library hours to plan your visit.
*The last day to submit your comment(s) is Sunday, March 31.
How to participate in the Book Tree Program
Check Out Physical Library Items from the JFT Library in Toronto
- Borrow books or audiovisual materials at the Japan Foundation Toronto Library.
- Every time you borrow 5 or more items (excluding periodicals), you may fill out a white ballot for a prize.
- Every time you borrow 10 or more items (excluding periodicals), you may fill out an additional blue ballot for a GRAND prize.
- You will receive two cards at the library counter
- Tsubaki-flower shaped comment card: Write down your comments on an item of their choice and add it to the Book Tree on the library wall
- Sheet for ballot: If you opt in for the prize lottery, write down your information (name, library card number, and email address)
- Prize winners will be notified directly later in April
Prizes
GRAND Prizes include:
AGO – 1 pair of General Admission Tickets for a visit to the Art Gallery of Ontario. (additional fee required for specially ticketed exhibitions. Audio guide not included.)
The Beguiling – 2 Manga books (in English)
ROM – 1 pair of Admissions Tickets to ROM’s galleries and special exhibitions.
TIFF – 1 pair of Tickets for an Gala screening at the 49th annual Toronto International Film Festival.

Check Out Ebooks/Auidobooks from JF Canada/USA Digital Library
- Borrow ebooks/audiobooks at the JF Canada/USA Digital Library.
- Every time you borrow 5 or more items, you are entitled to enter a draw for prizes.
- Submit comments on (an) item(s) of their choice on the virtual Book Tree board on Padlet.
- If you want to opt in for the prize lottery, please submit your information from the form available on the virtual Book Tree board.
- Prize winners will be notified directly later in April
