Our annual Book Tree is back!

Let’s make the library’s book tree bloom together by sharing your thoughts on library items (+ refer friends) and win an exciting prize!

Book Tree eligibility:

Check out 5+ physical/digital library items from Japan Foundation Toronto Library and/or JF Canada/USA Digital Library AND submit your comment(s) (+ refer friends) within the period of Monday, January 20 – Saturday, March 29 ET.

*The last day to borrow physical item(s) from Japan Foundation Toronto Library is Saturday, March 29. Please check library hours to plan your visit.

*The last day to submit your comment(s) is Monday, March 31.

 

How to participate in the Book Tree Program

Participate by Checking Out Physical Library Items from JFT Library in Toronto

    1. Borrow books or audiovisual materials at the Japan Foundation Toronto Library.
      • Every time you borrow 5 or more items (excluding periodicals), you may fill out a white ballot for a prize.
      • Every time you borrow 10 or more items (excluding periodicals), you may fill out an additional blue ballot for a GRAND prize.
    2. You will receive two cards at the library counter
      • Ume (Japanese Plum) flower shaped comment card: Write down your comments on an item of their choice and add it to the Book Tree on the library wall
      • Sheet for ballot: If you opt in for the prize lottery, write down your information (name, library card number, and email address)

         *NEW from this year* Friend Referral Bonus: If you learned about the Book Tree and/or the Japan Foundation’s library services from your friend, write down your friend’s library card number in the ballot sheet. Both you and your friend get an extra ballot worth chance for small prizes

    3. Prize winners will be notified directly later in April

Prizes 

GRAND Prizes include:

ROM – 1 pair of Admissions Tickets to ROM’s galleries and special exhibitions.

TIFF – 1 pair of Tickets for a Gala screening (excluding Opening or Closing Night) at the 50th annual Toronto International Film Festival. (Roy Thomson Hall; festival runs September 4 -14, 2025)

Other Prizes include (but not limited to) :

Japanese Sakura  pouch, stationaries, and so on!

    1. Borrow ebooks/audiobooks at the JF Canada/USA Digital Library.
      • Every time you borrow 5 or more items, you are entitled to enter a draw for prizes.
    2. Submit comments on (an) item(s) of their choice on the virtual Book Tree board on Padlet.

    3. If you want to opt in for the prize lottery, please submit your information from the form available on the virtual Book Tree board.
