This short documentary captures the booming manga industry of the 1980’s in Japan and examines its prolific influences on daily life. You now see the influence of manga globally as it has migrated to digital formats and also adapted to anime and live action versions, fueling a massive fan base in countries outside of Japan which has also taken root here in Canada.
Try to spot some of these manga’s mentioned in the film;
Doreamon, Dr. Slump, Ge Ge Ge No Kitaro, Chojin No Hoshi, Golgo 13, Lone Wolf and Cub and many many more!
Many of these titles mentioned in the film can be borrowed from our Japan Foundation Library in English and Japanese so please take a look!
Don’t forget to bring your lunch (bento)!
