Comedy/drama

A heartwarming comedy about a gutsy pregnant woman who gives her all to help others. It is the third feature-length work from 80s-born director Ishii Yuya, who came to prominence with his film Sawako Decides, and presents a vibrant depiction of idiosyncratic working class people. Mitsuko (Naka Riisa) is an optimist who strives to stay true to her concept of “cool,” and also happens to be nine months pregnant. With neither a husband, a home, nor money, she seeks refuge at the row house where she lived as child, only to discover that the landlord Kiyo (Inagawa Miyoko) has become bedridden, and that her childhood friend Yoichi (Nakamura Aoi) is struggling to keep his father’s unpopular eatery afloat.
