Join us for an in-depth lecture that will shed light on the current and future situation of the film industry in Japan. Director Gen Takahashi will offer his critical insights having worked in the industry and also share the challenges and experiences in becoming a independent filmmaker.

Gen Takahashi is the maverick independent director of the film Yoko The Cherry Blossom, featured in our Japanese Movies at Hot Docs Cinema. He is a talented Director, but also a writer, editor, producer, cinematographer and art director. Some of his other films include; Lady Plastic (2001), Charon (2004), Confessions of a Dog (2006), Goth (2008), and Court of Zeus (2013).

There will be a light reception following the lecture.
