Government of Japan Endowment to U of T for Centre for the Study of Global Japan

The University of Toronto will establish an endowed chair in Japanese politics and global affairs, and launch the Centre for the Study of Global Japan within the Munk School of Global Affairs thanks to a generous contribution of US$5million from the Government of Japan. This announcement follows a statement by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at the 2016 Japan-Canada Summit Meeting, expressing that Japan wants to support Japanese studies at Canadian universities to promote mutual understanding between the two countries.
