Dr. Meyer was a two-time Japan Foundation Fellow, in 2010 and 2019. His most valuable memories of the fellowships involved “Meeting helpful, friendly new colleagues and making friends.”
2010 research was on the social importance of packaging and the differences in Canada with a view to accommodating the social importance while addressing ecological concerns. 2019 research was on Japanese housing strategies and their potential for adaptive housing in Canada. [The fellowships] allowed me to develop research questions and results that I applied to my work, presented at conferences, and shared in my teaching.
