In 2007-2008, Dr. Nantais’ fellowship took him to Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto, for 14 months.
I did research on the zainichi Koreans during the American Occupation of Japan. I was able to visit archives in Tokyo, Nara, and Kyoto. I was also able to meet many scholars in my field. I was able to publish some of my research in an article entitled “Race to Subversion: Nationality and Koreans in Occupied Japan, 1945-1952,” published in Diplomatic History.
