The Japan Foundation fellowship took Dr. Wada-Marciano to Tokyo in 2012.
I researched 1930s Japanese cinema during the fellowship period, and I was able to access first-hand research materials in various archives in Japan. It helped me to write my dissertation, which became my first monograph. I became close to many acquaintances in my academic field in Japan. 1) project on digital cinema in Japan, 2) postwar cinema project, 3) post-3.11 documentary.
