JFT Online EdCamp for Japanese Language Teachers

The JFT Online EdCamp for Japanese Language Teachers is a study group where the participants play leading roles.

Discussion topics are decided by participants on the spot. Participants are welcome to suggest topics related to any problem they may face in their course of teaching, or something they want to hear others’ opinions on, etc. The goal is not to listen to success stories, but for participants to work together to solve problems.

The person who suggests the topic will decide what language it will be discussed in. Please feel free to choose among English, French and Japanese.

EdCamp sessions will not be recorded, so participants may feel free to share negative experiences, etc.

The first 5 minutes of the session will be on explaining what EdCamp is about and deciding on the topics. Participants will then split up into small groups for three 35-minute discussions.

Limit of Participants: 100 (Canadian participants have priority for the first 60 spots.)

Fee: Free

Language: Although the moderator will use Japanese, each session leader (the person who suggests the topic) will decide the language – English, French or Japanese.

Participation: Online (You can participate at home)

How to participate online:

・ The online platform which we use for the workshop is “Zoom”.
・ Potential topics will be collected before the EdCamp. If you have a topic you want to talk about / discuss, please include it when you register.
・ At the start of the session, we will carry out online voting through Padlet to decide on 12 topics. We will then split up into 4 discussion rooms and conduct 3 sessions.

・ Groups will be formed for each topic, and participants will choose which discussion room to join. You can move freely from group to group during the session.
・ As per the 35-minutes per session schedule, the second session will start from 7:45 pm EDT, and the third session will start from 8:22 pm EDT.
・ The last 5 minutes is reserved for sharing feedback.
(Please note that the schedule may change if there are too few topics suggested during registration.)

・ Smartphone/Tablet users will need to download the Zoom App
(A Zoom account is not needed)

How to use Zoom:

・ The link or “Meeting ID” will be sent to those who register for the workshop. The program is downloaded automatically and you can connect to the site automatically. The process may take more than 5 minutes especially for first-time users, so please open the link more than 5 minutes before the session starts, especially for those who are using the system for the first time.
・ For those who will use smartphones and tablets, please download the application called “ZOOM Cloud Meeting” before the event. After opening the application, please input the “Meeting ID”.

JFT日本語教師オンラインEdCampは、参加者が主役の勉強会です。

最先端の成功事例を聞くのではなく、現場の問題を解決するのが目的です。

話し合うトピックはその場で皆さんから受け付けます。困っていることや、他の人の意見を聞きたい人はお気軽にトピックを提案してください。

何語で話し合うかはトピックを提案する人が決めます。日本語、英語、フランス語のいずれから選んでください。

録画はされませんので、失敗談の共有なども気軽にできます。

最初に5分の説明があり、そのあと小グループに分かれたディスカッション（35分）3回を予定しています。

使用言語：モデレーターは簡単な日本語を話しますが、それぞれのセッションは日本語、英語、フランス語のうち、セッションリーダー（トピックを提案した人）が指定します。

参加：オンライン（ご自宅から参加できます）

参加方法：

・ Zoomというオンライン会議システムを利用いたします。
・ 事前にトピックを受け付けます。話し合ったり相談したいトピックがある人は申し込みの時にお書きください。
・ 当日の最初にPadletで投票してもらって、12のトピックを選びます。4つの部屋に分かれて3回のセッションを行います。

・ 当日はグループに分かれてトピックについて話し合います。好きなグループに入ってください。途中で別のグループに移動してもいいです。
・ 19:45（東部時間）から同じように2回目のセッションを行い、20:22(東部時間）から3回目のセッションを行います。
・ 最後に5分程度、全体で振り返りを行います。
（申し込みのアンケートでトピックが少なそうなときは時間配分の変更があるかもしれません）

必要なもの：

・インターネット接続
・マイクとカメラ （パソコンに内蔵されているものでも大丈夫です。）
・イヤホン（ハウリングを防ぐのに必要です）
・スマホやタブレットの方は専用のアプリが必要です。
（Zoomのアカウントは必要ありません）

Zoomの利用方法：

・パソコンの場合は、お申し込みの後に主催者から送られるリンクを開いてください。小さなプログラムがダウンロードされ、自動的に接続されます。場合によっては5分ほどかかる場合もありますので、初めて利用される場合は5分ほど前にはリンクを開いてください。
・スマートフォンやタブレットの場合は、 予め ZOOM Cloud Meeting のアプリをダウンロードしてください。アプリを開いてから、お申し込みの際に送付される「Meeting ID」 を入力すると、ご参加になれます。
