Learn Japanese Through Movies: “The Hotel of my Dream”

Are you a Japanese language learner who enjoys watching Japanese films?
It’s a great way to practice listening comprehension, learn or review Japanese words and grammar, while gaining insights about Japanese culture! Watch the film “The Hotel of my Dream” 「私にふさわしいホテル」(register for your free JFF Theater account here, this film is available until November 3) on your own schedule, using English subtitles or with the subtitles off for an extra challenge! (Japanese subtitles are not available for this film.)
Based on the novel by YUZUKI Asako, known for the acclaimed novel BUTTER, this film is about a promising young writer who struggles to debut her work despite winning a literary award.
Join us for an online session to learn Japanese keigo (polite) expressions or phrases from the movie, and discuss related topics with fellow learners. Participants will be grouped into Elementary and Intermediate+ levels, similar to the chat events held in the JFT Virtual Study Space. The Elementary group’s chat will be conducted in Japanese / English, while the Intermediate+ group will discuss in Japanese.
General discussion topics related to the film’s theme will also be covered; prior viewing of the movie is not mandatory to participate. Limited space is available, so please sign up today to secure your spot. We look forward to having you join us and learn Japanese through movies! Please feel free to watch the film even if you are not available to participate in the event. Further details will be sent via email to registered participants closer to the event date.
