Okinawa Film Series: Program 4

 

The Okinawa Film Series celebrates the diverse and rich culture of Okinawa. The next program in this series are two feature films that take place in the beautiful southern islands of Okinawa. These two very different films will shed light on the diversity of the people and stories in the OKINAWA FILM series.

KITANAKA SKETCH きたなかスケッチ

Directed by Tsukasa Kishimoto (2018) 60 min

Manga artist Misaki struggles to produce a story set in a rural Okinawa village called Kitanakagusuku. She then decides to join a local youth group seeking to revive the traditional Fenushima dance, which is usually reserved only for men.
