Regarding the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation

To Patrons of the Japan Foundation, Toronto,

March 12, 2020

The Japan Foundation, Toronto is closely monitoring the ongoing novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and following the advice of Public Health authorities, including the Public Health Agency of Canada, Toronto Public Health, and the World Health Organization.

In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we would like to share our policies with all of our valued patrons.

  1. Please kindly be reminded to take care of your health, and if you feel ill or exhibit any symptoms of illness, to stay home and follow the advice of public health authorities. The safety, health, and wellbeing of our patrons and staff members are important to us.
  2. Please wash your hands frequently, consider carrying hand sanitizer to use if soap and water are not readily available, cover your mouth and nose when sneezing (if a tissue is not available, use the upper part of your arm/sleeve), and properly dispose of tissues and paper towels in appropriate trash receptacles.
  3. Please use the hand sanitizer we have provided at the entrance of our centre.

As of today, the risk to people in the Greater Toronto Area remains low, and most of our events will go on as planned. However, some events might be cancelled or postponed depending on the updated situation. We will announce any potential changes on our official website as well as through other channels. Please stay tuned for the latest information.

The Japan Foundation, Toronto politely asks patrons who have travelled to areas identified as having active travel advisories for COVID-19 (https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/advisories) to postpone attending events organized by the Japan Foundation, Toronto until two weeks have passed since returning to Canada with no symptoms of COVID-19. We appreciate everyone’s understanding of the current situation. Thank you very much.
